To become a member of New Hope, individuals must attend the Discovery/Membership class, designed for adults and students in 7th grade and above. During this class, participants are encouraged to make a personal commitment to join by completing the Membership Covenant. This covenant signifies their acceptance of Jesus as their savior, having been baptized by immersion, and expressing the desire to be part of the New Hope family.
For children in 6th grade and below, the process is tailored to their needs. Parents are invited to contact the Kid’s Ministry and arrange for their children to attend the Kid’s New Believer & Baptism Class. For more information, contact the Kids Ministry at the North Campus (newhopekidsnorth@newhopebc.org) or the South Campus (newhopekidssouth@newhopebc.org).
Becoming part of a Family Group doesn’t automatically grant membership at New Hope. To officially join our community, individuals must attend the Discovery/Membership class, where they can personally decide to become a member by completing the Membership Covenant. This covenant involves affirming your acceptance of Jesus as your savior, having undergone baptism by immersion, and expressing your desire to be an integral part of the New Hope family.
If you give an offering, we assign an envelope number for record-keeping purposes. To become a member of New Hope, attendance at the Discovery/Membership class is essential. Individuals must personally attend this class, opting to join by completing the Membership Covenant. This covenant involves affirming your acceptance of Jesus as your savior, undergoing baptism by immersion, and expressing your desire to be an integral part of the New Hope family.
Not necessarily, the Discovery/Membership Class serves dual purposes. It functions as both an opportunity to learn more about New Hope and a chance to initiate the joining process. While the class marks the initial step towards joining, we don’t presume that everyone attending is doing so with the intent to become a member. To formalize your membership, we kindly request that you fulfill the Membership Covenant, indicating your acknowledgment of receiving Jesus as your savior, being baptized by immersion, and expressing your desire to be a part of the New Hope family.
Not necessarily. If, as a child, you underwent the new believer/membership class, then yes, you are a member. If not, we kindly request that you participate in the adult Discovery/Membership class and fulfill the Membership Covenant to formalize your membership.
Membership at New Hope is an individual decision. We encourage everyone interested in joining to attend the Discovery/Membership class personally. By completing the Membership Covenant, you affirm your acceptance of Jesus as your savior, confirm baptism by immersion, and express your desire to be part of the New Hope family.
To attain membership, we request that you acknowledge receiving Jesus as your savior, have been baptized by immersion, participate in the membership class, and fulfill the membership covenant. Once these steps are completed, your membership will be finalized. If you are transferring your membership from another Southern Baptist church, we will facilitate the request for the letter of transfer on your behalf.
Returning members are asked to contact Lesley Deyton, Director of Engagement and Development (lesleyd@newhopebc.org). She will ask you to complete an updated covenant to reinstate your membership. If you are transferring your membership back from another Southern Baptist church, we will facilitate the request for the letter of transfer on your behalf.
